Conflict Resolution

Conflicts are inevitable in every family, whether they are between spouses, siblings or the senior and junior generation. When family members bring their differences into the family business, however, the dynamics often become more complicated and often affect how well a business operates. Misunderstandings and resentments, left to fester, can even decrease the likelihood that the business will survive into the next generation.

While we recognize and respect each family's unique history, culture and communication system, our network of professionals offers a variety of solutions to family conflicts and their impact on the family business. By identifying the sources of the tensions, we increase the family members' awareness of the underlying issues they are expressing in the business. We encourage and support consistent and constructive dialogue through which they can resolve those issues. We also suggest structural and procedural solutions, such as Corporate Governance, a Supervisory Board or a Council of Advisors through which the family can benefit from more objective opinions of financial, legal and psychological experts.
